Claire L. Evans

Claire L. Evans is a writer and musician exploring ecology, technology, and culture. She is the singer of the pop group YACHT, whose album Chain Tripping (DFA Records) was nominated for a 2020 GRAMMY for Best Immersive Audio Album. A feature documentary about YACHT’s experiences working with AI, The Computer Accent, is slated for a streaming release in the fall. Evans is also an acclaimed science and technology writer; she is the author of Broad Band: the Untold Story of the Women Who Made the Internet (Penguin Random House), which has been translated into six languages, and the co-editor of the science fiction anthology Terraform: Watch Worlds Burn (MCD Books). Her writing has appeared in The Verge, VICE, Rhizome.org, Pioneer Works’ Broadcast, The Guardian, Document Journal, Eye on Design, Quartz, and Aeon, among others. She lives in Los Angeles, where she is an advisor to graduate design students at Art Center College of Design.
